India Vision Institute, in association with Mendonsa Foundation and Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera, is conducting a series of free eye screening camps in Panaji from today till November 7.

The campaign will provide comprehensive vision checks for Cornerstone School students and extend services to the wider community at the Urban Health Centre, Panjim, with free spectacles for those who need them and referrals to hospital where further medical examination is required.

India Vision Institute CEO, Vinod Daniel, Mendonsa Foundation Trustee Vivek Mendonsa, and Rotary Club of Riviera President Jeet Tolani, were among those present at the launch of the campaign in the school today. Others present included the school Headmaster Joel Dias, and Coordinator Farid Khan.

IVI CEO Vinod Daniel, said“Far too many children and adults live with uncorrected refractive error simply because they have never had a basic eye test. The result is poor classroom performance, reduced productivity and avoidable risk on the roads. A timely screening and a pair of corrective eyeglasses can change this in a day. With Rotary and the Mendonsa Foundation, we are bringing access and awareness to Goa so that those who need help receive it quickly and at no cost.”

Vivek Mendonsa said “Our foundation is committed to enabling every child to see clearly and every family to access essential eye care. Partnering with Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera and India Vision Institute allows us to reach students and underserved communities with practical solutions that make an immediate difference. Thank you, Cornerstone for giving us the opportunity to vision screen the children. We look forward to strong community participation across this week’s camps and hope that in future more schools would approach the Rotary for vision screenings.”

Jeet Tolani said "With IVI and Mendonsa Foundation, we are making access to eye care simple and local. One test and a pair of glasses can change a life.”

The camps will include vision screening, refraction,  counselling, free spectacles for eligible beneficiaries, and hospital referrals for cataract and other conditions that require further care.
