IVI Brien Holden Young Optometry Researcher Rolling Trophy for Hyderabad Student

Jangapally Varsha, a young researcher from GITAM, LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI), Hyderabad, has won the prestigious . The announcement was made following a keenly contested final round that brought together five promising young optometry researchers.

The two runners-up for this year’s trophy are Haripriya M, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, and Kamesh M, Inlife Institute of Vision Science and Management, Coimbatore.

Two other finalists - Faisal Bhat (Galgotias University, Greater Noida, UP) and Malavika M G (Susruta School of Optometry and Visual Science, Ernakulam) – also made it to the top five.

IVI's CEO Vinod Daniel said, "The Brien Holden Young Optometry Researcher Rolling Trophy is part of IVI’s commitment to nurturing a strong research culture among young professionals. By encouraging students to engage in research early in their careers, we aim to build a future-ready optometry sector that can respond to India’s growing eye care needs."

"Each year, this provides a unique opportunity for students to present original research that addresses real-world challenges in vision care. It helps foster a culture of research and critical inquiry among the next generation of vision care professionals,” Mr Daniel added.

The event was judged by leading experts in vision science: Dr. Charanya Ramachandran, Scientist at the Prof. Brien Holden Eye Research Centre, LV Prasad Eye Institute; Dr. B. R. Shamanna, Professor at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Hyderabad; and Dr. Namratha Hegde, Lead of Institutional Research and Faculty at the Sankara Academy of Vision, Sankara Eye Foundation.
