IVI Research Series to Foster Inquiry and Knowledge in Vision Science

India Vision Institute (IVI), a not-for-profit trust working to provide access to vision care for underserved communities, has announced the launch of the IVI Research Series – an initiative dedicated to promoting research and knowledge-sharing in optometry, vision science and public eye health.

The IVI Research Series aims to serve as a platform for encouraging early-career professionals and students to understand the research process, methodology, and engage with contemporary developments and trends in the field.

The series was launched on May 13 with an inaugural session by Dr Shrikant R Bharadwaj, Lead Scientist & Network Associate Director), Brien Holden Institute of Optometry and Vision Sciences, LV Prasad Eye Institute. He delivered a talk on ‘Introduction to Research’.

IVI CEO Vinod Daniel said, “The research series, which will include nine sessions from May 13 through July 5, aims to build a strong research culture in Indian optometry and the vision care community.”

“We want more professionals to see research as central to advancing clinical care and public health outcomes,” he said.

“This initiative follows IVI’s RE2030: A Vision for Advancing Eye Health Research in India report, which calls for strengthening research capacity across the sector,” Mr. Daniel added.

Research initiatives have included the Vision Science Research Conferences (ResMeets), Research Methodology workshops, and the Young Optometry Researcher Rolling Trophy.
