Sightsavers India, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited & India Vision Institute partner in the new Vision Centre for truckers at Attibele, Bangalore
A new Vision Centre at Attibele, Bangalore, under the ambit of Sightsavers India’s RAAHI Programme, supported by Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited and implemented by India Vision Institute (IVI), promises to open the doors for truckers and commercial vehicle drivers to get vision tested, wear corrective glasses, and contribute to fewer accidents and safer roads.
The launch of the ‘RAAHI’ Vision Centre today at Attibele was attended by IVI's CEO Vinod Daniel, and Sightsavers India CEO RN Mohanty. Representatives from Cholamandalam Investment and Finance were also present at the launch.
Narendra Kumar N - Senior Vice President-CSR, Chennai, Chola, said, "Truck drivers play an indispensable role in our economy by transporting goods across long distances, but they also bear the responsibility of ensuring the safety of their cargo and fellow road users. A crucial requirement for safe driving is clear vision. Therefore, it is our responsibility to ensure better vision care for the truck drivers. Chola is proud to deliver and promote eye health services to the occupational driving community in our different locations, thereby providing improved healthcare facilities.”
Mr Daniel said, “55% drivers have vision issues and half of them will require distance correction. With vision correction, they will become better drivers and be able to see traffic signals and the road clearly. Clear vision will also contribute to their overall well-being," he said.
"IVI is proud to partner with Sightsavers India’s RAAHI initiative and Cholamandlam Investment and Finance Company Limited to enable clear vision and road safety" Mr Daniel added.
Mr Mohanty said, “The new Vision Centre in Attibele, Bangalore, is a significant milestone in our mission to promote clear vision and road safety. I extend my appreciation to Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company Limited and India Vision Institute (IVI) for their continued support towards our RAAHI Programme. This centre will play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of drivers and the community at large.”
