India Vision Institute launched a Vision Centre at Palavakkam to serve the underprivileged in Neelangarai, ECR and surrounding communities.

Launching the centre, Thiru S Aravind Ramesh, MLA, said, “The Vision Centre will benefit the residents of several communities in Sholingnallur constituency, enabling them to address vision issues and improve their quality of life."

As part of the launch, IVI is conducting a reading glasses campaign to vision screen the aged and senior citizens suffering from Presbyopia.

Present at the event were IVI’s CEO Vinod Daniel, Thiru D Viswanathan, Chairman, Standing Committee (Education), Greater Chennai Corporation, and Palavakkam Somu, former Councillor.

Mr Daniel said, “Presbyopia is a condition that significantly impacts daily life, making activities such as reading, sewing, and recognizing faces challenging. The reading glasses campaign is particularly beneficial for residents above 40, including aged and senior citizens.”

“IVI's Vision Centres offer a range of services including eye check-ups, spectacles, and screening for diabetic retinopathy and cataract-related eye disorders. The Vision Centres complement the government’s services offered through urban primary health services. IVI works closely with the Urban Primary Health Centres in providing free vision screening services,” he said.

“Our vision centres across the city also provide eye health counselling and referral advice. By delivering comprehensive eye care services, IVI aims to address the eye health needs of the underserved urban population,” Mr Daniel added.
