Global leaders in pupil research at LVPEI, IVI co-hosted 34th International Pupil Colloquium to advance future of vision care
The 34th International Pupil Colloquium July 20-22, co-hosted by LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) and India Vision Institute (IVI), has opened in Hyderabad bringing together top international experts and practitioners, including ophthalmologists, neurologists and optometrists, to discuss and advance the latest developments and research on the pupil to improve eye care and vision health.
Dr Shrikant Bharadwaj, Scientist & Network Associate Director - Brien Holden Institute of Optometry and Vision Sciences, LVPEI and Colloquium Scientific Committee member, said “It is a pleasure to host the 34th International Pupil Colloquium (IPC) in association with India Vision Institute, known for its work in vision care and development of the optometry and eye health sector in India. LVPEI and IVI staff have worked to put the conference together, which is being held after a three-year break owing to the COVID-19 pandemic”
“The colloquium will focus on research and technology development in relation to pupils and will have participants from a range of disciplines. It will see invited lectures under five themes along with paper and poster presentations,” Dr Bharadwaj added.
IVI’s CEO Vinod Daniel said “We are pleased to co-host the pupil colloquium with LVPEI. This partnership underscores IVI’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment and to furthering eye care.”
“We hope to see the colloquium address both current challenges and future opportunities, with sessions being able to provide practical insights and actionable strategies for improving public eye care delivery,” he said.
The program will include the prestigious Loewenfeld Lecture, to be given by Dr Greg J Siegle of the University of Pittsburgh. The Loewenfeld lectures, which have been part of the International Pupil Colloquium since 1999, are in recognition of Dr Irene Loewenfeld’s contributions to the physiology of the pupil.
Over three days, the colloquium will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, and workshops covering a range of topics, including cutting-edge research, clinical practices, and the latest technological advancements in pupil research for improvements in eye care and treatment. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with international and national participants, share insights, and explore new partnerships aimed at enhancing global eye health.
The colloquium is open to professionals in eye care, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, researchers, and healthcare providers, among others.
