To kick off 2026 on the right foot, we pulled out all the stops. We wore red, made a list of resolutions, ate lentils at midnight, and shared our wishes with sparklers.

Yet, our New Year 's Eve to-do list is still missing something. Because we eyewear lovers know it well: the new year can't really begin without a thorough dive into the 2026  eyewear trends!

And if an eyewear style consultant like me tells you that the trends of the coming months will give us a glamorous dopamine rush capable of revolutionizing our creative vision, you'd better trust me.

Get your pen, paper, and vision board ready and discover with me which trends will definitely be on your 2026 eyewear wishlist!

Aviator Glasses: The Return of the Icon

Aviator sunglasses are a must-have for any self-respecting eyewear collection. But this year, perhaps the vintage pair you inherited from your cool grandfather will have to settle for staying in the display case.

In 2026, aviators will shed their 80s bad boy aura and undergo a glow-up, emerging more sophisticated, more fashionable and decidedly more elegant

Impalpable and refined designs transform them into an accessory for a true clean girl , but just add mirrored lenses to create an edgy look for a glamorous queen

And for those who suddenly feel the call of frontier life, a pair of orange lenses makes aviators perfect for an adventure in true Old West style.

But fear not! This revolution does not affect the beloved double bridge on the nosepiece , which remains the undisputed symbol of the irreducibly rebellious style of aviators.

Oversize: Between Futurism and Nostalgia

Have you decided to dive into the more-is-more aesthetic this year ? Excellent choice.

But then make sure you get your hands on some oversized glasses worthy of this trend !

The 2026 eyewear trends give us oversized, dramatic, exaggerated frames , worthy of an Oscar-winning sci-fi film for special effects.

Total black reigns supreme, dominating the runways with looks that creatively  mix mystery and dystopian sensuality.

However, there is no shortage of irreverent hints of color to tone down the more severe geometries, nor shiny metal inserts for an extra confident touch that is impossible to ignore.

Yet this futuristic exploit does not completely dethrone the oversized 70s-style frames that dominated 2025.
With warm and earthy palettes , these Fellini-esque diva glasses persevere undaunted, creating a suggestive dialogue between past and future.

Oval glasses: from the 90s with fury

When we saw them worn by the most influential it-girls on the web, we asked ourselves: yet another meteoric trend or a foreshadowing of future eyewear trends?

Now we know for sure that influencers were absolutely right: oval hair is back in fashion.

With a grunge vibe and cutting-edge soul , in 2026 oval glasses become a fashion statement to be paired in the most unexpected ways. And no, definitely no one will wear them with peaked caps and plaid shirts.

The tiny models have fun completing grand gala looks made of flowing dresses and sparkly jackets , or they illuminate structured outfits with a touch of pure retro magic.

There is no shortage of futuristic chunky and over-the-top interpretations that push the difference between oval glasses and over- sized frames to the limit .

The most surprising plot twist, however, sees them intersect with the charm of cat-eye lenses , giving life to frames that are somewhere between a femme fatale and the main character of a new Matrix sequel.

Cat-eye: sharp & colorful

Cat -eyes are now a given when it comes to eyewear trends: they come back every year but each year they come back a little different.

If in 2025 we saw them sharp and classic chic , this time we find them more pointed and openly retro-futuristic.

Vibrant shades like orange and yellow peek out from black frames , which remain a timeless constant when it comes to cat-eyes

Those who love a touch of excess even in tradition will find something to their liking: models that mix classic feline geometries with more avant-garde styles.

These are rounded glasses topped with pointy metal architectures that recall a cat's ears, or compositions with super tiny lenses set in extra frames ... from every point of view!

Rectangular Glasses: From TikTok to Fashion Week

They went viral on TikTok in 2024 , but only received the official consecration of fashion weeks this year: here are rectangular glasses, the social phenomenon that has become a trend.

Renamed Bayonetta glasses in homage to the video game heroine who made them iconic, in 2026 this model puts aside its geek essence to embrace a bold , urban style

Boxy silhouettes soften and take on neon hues that transform even streetstyle looks into postmodern masterpieces.

And if until now they were considered the top choice for the office, now they unleash their party queen soul with diamond-studded settings perfect for shining from evening until the first light of dawn.

Wraparound: Alien Glamour

If in 2026 oversized sunglasses look like they came straight out of a science fiction movie, mask-style sunglasses will look like they came from another planet.

Wraparounds take the form of an augmented reality headset, with a monolens that wraps around the face from temple to temple.

And the experimentation moves on multiple levels: starting from tiny monochromatic designs , moving on to complex contrasting compositions, up until arriving at real luxury masks in Venice steampunk style.

We can definitely say that this year wraparounds are going all in , defining an aesthetic where creativity surpasses wearability and the rules of ready-to-wear.

Colored lenses: the revenge of fluorescent

Last year, we witnessed the first major migration of color from frames to lenses. And this year, the trend isn't just continuing, it's even more bold!

From soft pastel shades we move straight to explosive colors , with lenses that seem to devour all the gradients of the rainbow.

The fluorescent shades of electric blue, yellow, purple and orange are particularly eye-catching, and when combined with neutral-toned frames, they create almost hypnotic contrasts.

And here comes the most interesting part: fluorescent lenses are not "just" an aesthetic choice, but intervene directly in our way of seeing the world , coloring it based on the shade we have placed before our eyes.

Unlike other trends, in short, this one pushes the concept of eyewear customization beyond the simple expression of style. Every time we wear glasses with colored lenses, we choose to see the world from our own unique perspective , modifying it based on the nuances of our mood and creativity.

Wire frames: back to minimalism

After this parade of alien designs and triumphs of color, we return to the reassuring realm of minimalism thanks to one of the most intriguing eyewear trends of 2026: wire frames

Impalpable and extremely light frames , to the point that they almost seem to disappear on the face of the wearer.

Ethereal, clean and angelic, they are the safe choice for anyone who wants to show off an eyewear style that is both cool and discreet.

But their minimalist charm hides a potential that shouldn't be underestimated. Wire frames create the perfect pair with Cloud Dancer , the shade of white elected Pantone's Color of the Year!

This sophisticated nuance sublimely accompanies the simplicity of the wire frames , where the softness of white meets the metallic glow of the frames to give life to a super sensual harmony.

How will you look at your 2026?

The 2026 eyewear trends are an invitation to play, experiment, and express who you are in an authentic and spontaneous way, whether with a very traditional or extra -cutting-edge frame.
