When it comes to finding the perfect pair of glasses for your style , there's no middle ground. And trust me when I say so, an eyewear consultant like me.

On the one hand, there are those who want glasses that go everywhere , those with super classic designs that can look good with any outfit at any time of the day.

On the other hand, there are eyewear lovers who seek—or rather, demand— glasses worthy of being the protagonists of every look and of immediately communicating the uniqueness of the wearer.

Well, if I always need to ask the former a few more questions to understand which brand to direct them towards, I have no doubts about the latter. The right eyewear for them has only one signature, and that is Philipp Plein

Are you wondering why? The short answer is because Philipp Plein glasses are the epitome of creativity, experimentation, and absolute confidence in your own vision . And the long answer? Well, for that, you'll have to keep reading!

Between luxury kennels and phantasmagorical catwalks

Like every brand that makes recognisability its trademark, Philipp Plein also made his debut far from the catwalks and fashion magazines.

Its story begins in a house in Munich, Germany, where two particularly lively dogs tear apart some newly purchased Burberry cushions.

As chance would have it, these two rambunctious pups belonged to a very young Philipp Plein who, looking at the scraps of fabric, had his first entrepreneurial idea: to create luxury cushions for dogs in ultra-resistant fabric.

A rather bizarre intuition, some might say. And they'd be right, so much so that the project quickly ran aground. But it lasted long enough to shape the DNA of the future Philipp Plein fashion house : luxury without fear of excess.

In 1998, Philipp Plein registered his brand, dedicated himself to interior design , and stunned the market with a sensational crocodile leather desk. It was the beginning of a precise aesthetic , made of shiny textures , sculpted surfaces, and provocation capable of drawing out the true essence of the extraordinary from every ordinary object .

Her debut in the fashion world will also be truly extraordinary , taking place during… an international furniture fair.

As he will recount in an interview with Esquire magazine in 2018 , on this occasion Plein chooses to set up a wardrobe display with a military parka on which he has applied a skull made of Swarovski crystals

The result? Everyone wants to buy the parka and no one looks at their closet anymore. And at that moment Philipp Plein realizes that his path is no longer in the world of furniture, but in the world of fashion .

Thus in 2004 he officially debuted in the fashion world with a collection that was a statement of his uncompromising independence, of which the Swarovski skull became the unmistakable logo.

Faced with an explosion of studded jackets, crystals, animal prints, black leather, hyper-constructed silhouettes somewhere between streetwear and couture, critics are divided, the public goes crazy and Plein triumphs with a vision of luxury that dares, provokes and creates havoc .

In a landscape where many brands seek the safety of discretion, Plein decides to bring the opulence of more is more back into the spotlight with an aesthetic that speaks to those who are not afraid to take up space and be the protagonist of their own story.

And this exuberance is not limited to the design of clothing and accessories, but also transforms the fashion shows into sensational shows that alternate monster truck spectacles with roller coaster installations, horse races, and models escorted by gigantic mechatronics.

Each runway thus becomes a stage that subverts the hierarchies of fashion to put the only rule that Philipp Plein chooses to follow at the center: his own vision.

In this phantasmagorical crescendo, the arrival of eyewear fashion is both an inevitable and natural consequence. If our eyes are the mirror of our soul, why not make them the manifesto of our uniqueness?

Philipp Plein Eyewear: The New Rules of Eyewear

In 2021 Plein signed a partnership with De Rigo , an Italian excellence in high-end eyewear.

And it doesn't take much to understand that his disruptive vision has lost none of its shine: right from his first collection, Plein has brought his uncompromising, maximalist essence to the world of eyewear .

To begin with, he overturns the shapes and styles of the most sacred eyewear designs to transform them into statement pieces of his idea of ??luxury, in which elegance is inseparably paired with the most unbridled audacity.

Aviators become canvases for crystals and engravings, oversized frames play with chunky elements and sculptural details, cat-eyes are transformed into architectures of pearls and diamonds.

But the revolution doesn't stop at design. Plein creates the first phygital eyewear in history , paired with an exclusive NFT created by 3D artist Antoni Tudisco: a visionary combination of luxury and technology, where each pair of glasses is also a collectible digital work .

It goes without saying that this artistic pioneering approach allows no compromises in the final quality of his masterpieces, in which every curve, every screw, every hinge is designed to combine performance and stage presence. Philipp Plein frames are therefore not simple accessories, but the embodiment of an attitude , made of courage, self-irony, and a well-measured pinch of madness.

Where classic elegance preaches modesty, Plein proclaims the courage to break the mold and do everything not to go unnoticed.

Philipp Plein's top designer glasses

At this point it is quite clear why I have no hesitation in recommending Philipp Plein to anyone looking for eyewear full of personality.

These are glasses for those who know that in fashion, as in life, size is not always synonymous with taste and that sometimes a little cheekiness is essential to stand out from the crowd.

It's no coincidence that bold designs for a contemporary it-girl stand out among the women's offerings , alternating oversized titanium and acetate frames with tiny models with irreverent geometric designs . What's never missing? The iconic hexagonal logo integrated into the temples , big enough to let the whole world know your style is by Philipp Plein.

Among men 's glasses, there are ultra-light rimless frames , perfect for wearing at any time of day, and surprising silhouettes that can transform even the most casual outfit into a front-page  look .
